If a supplier proposes an alternative, confirm that it meets the project’s requirements before comparing its price. 2. Convert quotations to the same unit Use these calculations: Price per square metre = price per piece ÷ area per piece. Price per square metre = price per box ÷ stated coverage per box. The following prices are fictional examples, not market quotations. Suppose both suppliers offer the same 60 × 60 cm tile. Each piece covers: 0.6 × 0.6 = 0.36 square metres Quotation Calculation Price per square metre A: ₱180 per piece ₱180 ÷ 0.36 ₱500 B: ₱720 per box of four ₱720 ÷ 1.44 ₱500 The displayed prices look different, but the material cost per square metre is identical. For an actual order, check the piece count and coverage on the specific packaging. Tiles of the same dimensions do not necessarily come in identical pack sizes. 3. Compare the complete delivered order Ask both suppliers to quote the same purchase quantity for the same delivery address. Request separate details for: Tile cost and whether tax is included. Delivery and unloading. Other materials or services included. Charges still payable outside the quotation. Confirm available stock and the expected delivery date alongside the total. 4. Confirm box quantities and replacement availability Ask the installer to determine the quantity needed for the layout, cuts and spare tiles. Then round the purchase quantity to the supplier’s selling unit. Supplier notes that tiles from different production batches may vary in shade or size. Ask about the batch supplied and whether later purchases could match it. A useful quotation request is: “Please confirm the product code, pieces per box, coverage per box, required box quantity and full delivered cost to our project address.
